About Me

Profile picture

I am Joan Cáceres, a doctoral researcher in my final year at CEA Paris-Saclay, in the Quantronics Group. My thesis focuses on studying the coherence of a qubit based on a superconductor-semiconductor quantum circuit. Additionally, I am exploring artificial intelligence applications and launching projects in this field.

My Journey and Passion for Science

Since childhood, I have been fascinated by many subjects. However, during my teenage years, I realized that I would eventually have to choose a specialization, which made me fear losing my curiosity. Initially, I pursued Industrial Engineering, thinking it would provide financial stability to later explore my interests. However, I soon realized that dedicating my youth to something uninspiring was not ideal. After deep reflection, I created a list of my true passions, with Physics ranking at the top. Inspired by books like 'A Brief History of Time' and 'Sophie's World,' I saw Physics as a means to explore philosophical questions through empirical data and mathematics. Over time, my focus shifted from fundamental physics to practical applications of quantum mechanics, leading me to my doctoral research in superconducting quantum circuits. Beyond physics, I am also passionate about artificial intelligence and biotechnology due to their transformative societal impact.

Mis Hobbies

Dancing salsa and bachata

I have been very focused on the gym for four months and plan to resume next week.

I love traveling, but due to my doctorate, I have not been able to do it as much as I would like.

I used to make science outreach videos, some of which went viral. I want to resume this.

In addition to my main work, I am learning software development and artificial intelligence.
